Momentary is a contemporary landscape print by British artist Claire Gill. Created through digital photomontage, the artwork combines Claire’s original photography to create an imagined landscape centred around a vivid green tree.
Layers of foliage, vegetation and natural textures create depth across the composition. Fresh greens contrast with softer tones, capturing the feeling of shelter beneath a tree while retaining the quiet, contemplative quality found throughout Claire’s work.

About Momentary
Momentary is a limited edition green tree landscape print by British artist Claire Gill. A vivid tree forms the focus of this imagined landscape, surrounded by layers of foliage, vegetation and natural texture.
Rather than documenting a single place, Claire constructs the landscape from her own photographs. She cuts out, layers and rearranges individual photographic fragments digitally until a new composition begins to emerge. As a result, the finished artwork sits somewhere between photography, collage and painting.
Created Through Digital Photomontage
Claire’s slow digital photomontage process begins with photographs gathered on walks and journeys. Trees, branches, foliage, textures and overlooked details become the raw material for an entirely new landscape.
In Momentary, fresh greens and layered vegetation surround the central tree. Changes in colour, texture and scale create a sense of depth, while areas of light and shade give the composition a feeling of shelter. The finished landscape captures a fleeting moment beneath the trees while retaining the quiet, contemplative atmosphere that runs throughout Claire’s work.
