I'm Claire; a contemporary photomontage artist based in West Sussex in the UK.
Seventeen years ago I stumbled upon a way of making art that I love and which allows me to make sense of the world around me.
I use a collage approach to digitally combine photographic details I have taken, to create new scenes.

I have really been enjoying developing this new print in the making for an upcoming show @birchamgallery14
It is inspired by the coast at Holyhead near Wells next the sea. Wish I was there now!
Today I have been building up up visual textures in a number of works to create a sense of plants.
Not quite finished but no longer just ideas.
These are some of the developing pieces currently pinned to my studio board.
Seeing them together helps me spot connections between images colours and compositions that aren’t always obvious on a computer screen.
Each work began with my own photographs of landscapes and coastlines gradually layered and reimagined into contemporary photomontage. There’s still plenty to refine but I love this stage where the collection starts to reveal its own character.

What do you love about the way the sea meets the shore?
I love how the picture changes from a view to a pattern when looking from above and the waves look like lace.
