I imagine that most people would walk straight past this.

I nearly did too.

But over the years I’ve learned that the smallest details often hold the most inspiration.

A weathered surface, peeling paint, the way colours sit together, or marks left behind by time.

These overlooked textures often find their way into my digital photomontages, transformed into something entirely new.

What everyday detail have you noticed recently that made you stop?

This is where every artwork comes together.

Not with a finished image.
But here, in my quiet space, surrounded by photographs, ideas and all the little fragments that might eventually become something else.

When I’m bringing images together, I usually have music playing—or sometimes a film on in the background.

It might sound distracting, but for me, the extra noise actually helps quieten my head. It gives my mind something gentle to settle around while I concentrate on the slow, intuitive process of cutting, layering and rearranging.

There’s rarely a clear plan.
Just photographs, curiosity and the feeling that something is beginning to emerge.

This is the part of making I love most—the quiet space between an idea and an artwork.

Would you work better with music or something playing in the background?

The sea has a way of holding opposites at once - power and stillness movement and calm.

My new print ‘Uplift’ catches the energy of waves as they gather and break, using layers of my own photographs to create a seascape that sits somewhere between photography and painting.

Seeing it framed in this Japanese inspired interior reminds me how art can bring both life and quiet into a space. The movement of the sea becomes something to pause with rather than rush past.
