The Shades of Autumn – Autumn Tree Print
The Shades of Autumn is a limited edition autumn tree print by British artist Claire Gill. Layers of trees, vegetation and rich seasonal colour come together to create an imagined landscape inspired by the changing natural world.
Rather than documenting a single place, Claire constructs the landscape from her own photographs. She cuts out, layers and rearranges individual photographic fragments digitally until a new composition begins to emerge. As a result, the finished artwork sits somewhere between photography, collage and painting.
Created Through Digital Photomontage
Claire’s slow digital photomontage process begins with photographs gathered on walks and journeys. Trees, plants, textures and overlooked details become the raw material for an entirely new landscape.
In The Shades of Autumn, layers of foliage create depth and rhythm across the composition. Warm seasonal colours sit alongside softer natural tones, while intricate photographic details invite a closer look. The finished landscape captures the richness of autumn while retaining the quiet, contemplative atmosphere that runs throughout Claire’s work.
