Amber & Rust – Autumn Landscape Print
Amber & Rust is a limited edition autumn landscape print by British artist Claire Gill. Warm amber, rust and earthy tones come together in an imagined landscape filled with layers of vegetation, colour and texture.
Rather than documenting a single view, Claire constructs the landscape from her own photographs. She cuts out, layers and rearranges individual photographic fragments digitally until a new composition begins to emerge. As a result, the finished artwork sits somewhere between photography, collage and painting.
Created Through Digital Photomontage
Claire’s slow digital photomontage process begins with photographs gathered on walks and journeys. Details of plants, trees, textures and surfaces become the raw material for an entirely new landscape.
In Amber & Rust, autumnal colours create warmth across the composition. Rich ochres and rusty reds sit alongside softer natural tones, while layers of photographic detail create depth and movement. The result captures something of the richness of the changing landscape while retaining a quiet, contemplative atmosphere.
