Littoral – Suffolk Coast Print

Littoral is a Suffolk coast print by British artist Claire Gill, created as a limited edition seascape through digital photomontage. Inspired by the Suffolk coast, it captures the quiet atmosphere of the shoreline and the subtle meeting point between land and sea.

Claire creates her contemporary landscapes through digital photomontage. First, she photographs places, textures and small details that catch her attention. She then cuts, layers and rearranges these fragments in Photoshop. As a result, the finished artwork becomes an imagined landscape rather than a record of one particular view.

The soft, muted palette gives Littoral a peaceful and spacious quality. Subtle layers of colour and texture suggest sand, water and distant land. However, the landscape remains deliberately ambiguous. This allows the viewer to bring their own memories of the coast to the image.

Rather than creating a conventional Suffolk coast print, Claire focuses on the feeling of being there. In particular, she is drawn to quiet stretches of coast, changing tides and the openness of the horizon.

Littoral works particularly well in calm, contemporary interiors. Its understated coastal palette can also complement neutral spaces and natural materials. Above all, the print offers a quiet connection to the landscape and the sea.
