About the Brighton Boat print
Brighton Boat is a colourful limited edition print inspired by Brighton’s lively seafront. Claire Gill combines a weathered wooden boat with a beach hut, palm trees and oversized fishing buoys.
Sweeping lines lead through the composition and suggest the curves of the promenade. Turquoise, coral and soft pink create a playful coastal palette. Meanwhile, layered marks and weathered surfaces give the artwork depth and character.
Claire builds every artwork from her own photographs using an original digital photomontage process. She cuts out, rearranges and layers individual elements to construct an imagined scene. Therefore, this Brighton Boat print captures the feeling of Brighton rather than one literal view.
