The sand between my toes – Southwold beach print

‘The sand between my toes’ is a contemporary seascape print and photomontage, inspired by the beach at Southwold on the Suffolk Coast. I created it by digitally combining original photographs taken there. My aim when creating digital photomontage is always to retain a sense of the places I visit. However the very act of combining different images of the place, leads to the creation of an entirely new scene, which as a consequence leaves space for the imagination. The resulting image although inspired by Southwold could be any beach.

I wanted this image to be about the physical sensation of being on the beach, exposed to the textures and the elements, which also influenced the Title – The sand between my toes. As a consequence I have moved towards using more abstract visual elements to create the scene.

I sign all prints on the front in pencil and edition them. Once an edition has run out, I do not print any more of that image.
