Into the Blue

‘Into the Blue’ is a contemporary seascape print and photomontage, inspired by the beach at Worthing on the Sussex Coast. I created it by digitally combining original photographs taken at Worthing. My aim when creating digital photomontage is always to retain a sense of the places I visit. However the very act of combining different images of the place, leads to the creation of an entirely new scene, which as a consequence leaves space for the imagination.

I was very drawn to the patterns created by the planks left on the beach. I knew they served a function, but they also looked as if they were accidentally drawn on the surface, like vigorous marks drawn by a pencil.
