Frequently asked Questions
About digital art prints. Are they reproductions?
In order to answer the question are digital art prints and photographic prints reproductions, it is necessary to look to the process of making the work. A print of an oil painting, which is photographed or scanned is trying to create an exact replica of an original painting. It is a copy of something already in existence. A digital print is an original; It was created on the computer and reflects the moment in time when it was created through the printing process.
Are digital art prints original prints?
All the artworks are created by combining and juxtaposing original photographic imagery on the computer. The only way these images become physical artworks is by printing them on a fine art printer, with UV resistant inks. These are therefore original prints in the same way that a lino print or an etching are. I only ever print the amount of works listed in an edition. When the full edition is sold, then no more are printed. All work is sold as a limited edition print.
How are the prints packed?
I flat pack the prints when posting in the UK, which means they arrive in the best condition for framing.
I roll the larger prints in order to send them abroad abroad as the postage price is considerably more economical. You will need to unpack and flatten the prints before framing as they will have a natural curl to them after being packed in this way.
Please let me know if you would prefer to pay an extra cost for packing prints flat in order to send to Europe and the rest of the world
Are the prints framed?
When purchasing a print through the website, they are are sold unframed. This is firstly because I believe that choosing a frame is a very personal thing. Frames are often chosen to go in a particular room. Secondly because my limited experience of sending glass through the post has been less than successful and is best avoided.
I show in-situ pictures on the website to give an impression of the scale of the work when hung on a wall. Prints can be seen and purchased framed in many of the galleries at which I exhibit. Please find a list of galleries here
Are the prints signed?
I sign and number all limited edition prints on the front of the print in pencil. Prints are also accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
Art for interiors | Will the print match my room?
No problem – Just ask me to send a partial sample of the print to view how the colours appear in your room. I print the partial image sample on normal bonded paper, not art paper, which will give you an accurate sample of colour to check against your interior space.
How quickly will I receive my print?
If the print you desire is available then you can expect to receive it in 2-3 days. However, in most cases, prints are printed to order and need a few days to rest before packing. Therefore I aim to deliver your print within ten days. I will always inform you when the print will be delivered.
How are the prints sent?
I post both medium digital art prints and large digital art prints on a Parcelforce 48 hour service and small prints by first class signed for service with Royal Mail.
I use Royal Mail’s international track and signed for service to send cards and prints internationally.
Can I return my digital art print?
I hope you love the print, so if for any reason you are unhappy with it, send it back within seven days for a full refund. It must be returned in the same undamaged state in which it was sent.
Please notify me immediately if the print arrived damaged in the post, in order that I can take this up with the postal service. As a result I will arrange for a replacement to be sent.
